Re: Man Utd: only one fit centre back
It would be ridiculous for us not to attack them and exploit a clear weakness. We will need to score to get a result anyway, so might as well go for it from the off.

Re: Man Utd: only one fit centre back
If they were playing Carrick or Fletcher with Rojo I wouldn't be so positive, as Carrick especially has normally done well at centre back when called upon.

But Van Gaal said the other day that he might pick another debutant from the youth team, one of the players mentioned was only converted from a midfielder 3 years ago.

If that's the case we really need to have the mentality that we're going there to win rather than be happy with a point.

That's also what he said prior to the Liverpool game.

Allardyce will play it safe, he won't go for the jugular, he even admitted as much yday, a draw is a great result !

Is there one West Ham fan anywhere that doesn't understand the tradition of teams turning their shit seasons around by spanking west ham?

I'm never more gloomy about a match then when we play a team in a crisis.

Too right. It would be like trying to kill a wounded animal with a feather. We MUST take the game to them and go for the jugular.

I'll be honest. I would rather see us go there and give it a right good go and lose 4-1 than go there, sit back, be defensive and lose 1-0.

They had this problem before and STILL beat us at home

I'm thinking 2 - 1 win to them

I certainly can't remember the last time I was quite looking forward to us going up there.

Set plays, they are going to struggle big time. We got to use that

Buster 1:35 Fri Sep 26
Re: Man Utd: only one fit centre back
I'll be proper pissed off if we don't go and have a go at them up there, they may well be shit hot up front but we won't have many better chances to go there and score at least a couple.

Star striker signing not scored yet?

West Ham at home next??

I think we've seen this one before

Bang on mate. I was completely wrong last week as I would put my house on us losing to Liverpool. We always did (welll 90% of the time). Same with United, aside from a couple of very memorable occasions, we are 3 point cannon fodder for them.

Omens are really bad. They are in supposed "disarray", no defenders, struggling for form and points and good old West Ham are coming to town.

We need to get ahead somehow but I foresee a hammering because, like you say, its the real West Ham way and besides we have never, repeat NEVER, have beaten 2 high profile (big) teams in succession.

Just hope we give them a game. We should do based on last week and the players we now have but you can imagine an under pressure ref sending Song off after 30 seconds to completely take the game out of our hands :-(

I would love to b proved wrong again but doubt it.

As long as we give it a real good go then that's all you can ask for...

Re: Man Utd: only one fit centre back
couple of examples!

09 Oct 1982 D1 2 Liverpool H 3-1
16 Oct 1982 D1 2 Southampton A 0-3

30 Oct 1982 D1 2 Manchester United H 3-1
06 Nov 1982 D1 3 Stoke City A 2-5

Re: Man Utd: only one fit centre back
If we really have got our West Ham back I predict 6-0 to United!

That would be the old West Ham way, brilliant one week awful the next!
